Mel Porter from Newbury has agreed to run the London Marathon this year to raise much needed funds for Time to Talk West Berkshire.

The charity is one that Mel knows very well, as she’s a volunteer counsellor who provides a series of one to one sessions for vulnerable children and young people, helping them through their life challenges.

‘I am one of 25 trained counsellors who volunteer for Time to Talk, a registered charity, offering confidential counselling to young people aged 11 to 25 in West Berkshire. This year sees the 30th Anniversary of the charity. You can find out more by visiting the webpage: www.t2twb.org’

The charity relies entirely on grants and donations to keep the service running. They are dealing with a growing demand for the service with 253 referrals last year – a significant increase from 2013. The money donated will have a direct impact on continuing to provide this much needed service for young people living across West Berkshire’.

So far Ms Porter has raised more than £1000 towards her £2000 target.
